Welcome back to another “Essays” episode.

It’s only one week since we started our live experiment of automating VC with AI (intro and all tasks we’ll tackle here) and we already have more than 100 members in our free Slack group + various tools and ideas being explored.

Today, I’d like to share the first of many experiments: Automating newsletter summaries.

Problem: I Receive 50+ Email Newsletters..

… but unfortunately don’t have the time to properly read - oftentimes not even to skim - majority of them. Newsletters serve as a key channel for information and most investors are subscribed to dozens, but ‘important’ sometimes gets deprioritized for ‘urgent’.

So I was wondering whether there could be ways to process all relevant information and automatically generate a daily newsletter digest.

Solution: Use ChatGPT to Summarize Newsletters Every Day

Here’s the step-by-step guide:

  1. Connect Gmail with ChatGPT

  2. Define logic how to identify what’s a newsletter and what’s not

  3. Setup daily task to read all emails, filter newsletters, summarize them, merge/remove duplicates, create daily digest with bullet list, brief summary, link to full content
